Determining where to mount your blind is not always a matter of personal preference, there are definitely plenty of practical reasons to consider when making your choice. Is blocking light more important in certain rooms? Appearance? Will it fit? Here’s what you need to know to help you decide.
Another thing to consider when Recess Mounting a Roller Blind is that there is generally a small light gap of around 15-20mm on each side of the window opening to the side of the cloth to accommodate for the brackets and mechanisms.
If light gaps are not acceptable for you, consider these options in spaces like Bedrooms, and Theatre Rooms where you would prefer the most blockout:
The downside for a Back Roll is that the roll and hardware show – a look some people don’t like. There are some remedies such as Waterfall Rolling (Front Rolling) your blind, selecting “Cassette” as your control system (only if available for your dimensions), or adding one of our valances as this provides a more finished look.
All of our back rolled blinds have extra fabric added to the drop so that when wound all the way down will never show the raw tubing.

Because having a Waterfall Roll pushes the fabric away from the window glass, for Face Fixed Mounts specifically, you should consider Back (Standard) Roll
Please note that our Zebra Roller Blinds only come in a Cassette System and roll direction is not applicable to them.

We have a selection of colours to choose from, which will be shown if you select this option. Please note that if your blind exceeds a certain size, it will have to go on a 45mm tube and therefore our system will only show you the “45mm tube” option to select.
Your roller blind will come on a 45mm tube with no cassette. You have the option to choose a 106mm half round valance to mount over your blind. We have a selection of colours to choose from, which will be shown if you select this option. Please note that for blinds exceeding a certain size, this will be the only option available to select.
Operating a manual blind by pulling the Drive Chain may require significant effort, and upgrading to motorization can become expensive. With our Spring Assist Mechanism you can have a cost-effective option for operating even the largest blinds with ease. Mounted inside the tube and attached to the clutch, this pre-wound spring can reduce the required pulling force necessary to operate the blind by up to 50%.
It comes pre-wound inside the roller tube, eliminating the need for complicated installations.
You can decide to add our 106mm half round valance to your blind, this will be mounted over the roller system, so it is nicely tucked away.
Available colours are Coffee Bean, White, Java, Cream and Black. You will be able to choose your colour in the next option.
Valances are only available for our Classic System in a 38mm or 45mm tube.
Your standard chain operated system, which comes with a plastic white chain as a standard feature. You can change the chain to a stainless steel chain (highly recommended) a bit further down in the product options. Adding a Spring Assist will be a great add-on to go with your 45mm tube, especially for larger and/or heavier blinds.
A motor built into the roller tube with a plug in cord. For the Cassette and 38mm Classic Systems, we offer a motor with a 1m cord and for the 45mm Classic System, a motor with a 2,5m cord. Our system will only show the available motor based on your roller system selected. Please note that we do not offer any electrical installations with our installation, and this will have to be done by your electrician. Not ideal for power outages, unless if you have a backup generator. Requires a minimum blind width of 700mm, so this option will only be shown if your width entered is 700mm or more.
A Somfy motor built into the roller tube with operated by battery power. Available for a 38mm or 45mm tube. Our price includes the battery pack, but a battery charger will be at an additional cost. Please contact us if you require one. With the Somfy Tahoma HomeKit, you will be able to control your blinds, and other household items, from your smartphone or other smart devices. This option can be arranged on request.
You will need a remote if you choose to order your blinds motorized. If you are to order more than one motorized blind, or bought motorized blinds from us before, and you have a 5 channel or 15 channel remote with available space on, no remote is required. You will however have to operate your motorized blinds with a remote.
For more than one motorized blind, you can add a 5-channel or 15-channel to either one of your blinds. For a single blind, you can choose a 1 channel remote.

You will however have to operate your motorized blinds with a hand held remote or wall remote.

Ambient 10nm Tilt and Lift motor built in with a 2.5m plug in cord. The motor has the ability to open and close blinds, as well as tilt slats. Requires a minimum blind width of 700mm, so this option will only be shown if your width entered is 700mm or more. Price for motor is based on the width of your blind, and this will be automatically calculated by our built-in system.
The long thread that holds each slat together on your average venetian blind is called the ladder. This ladder is punched through a routing hole on each slat and allow your blinds to rotate and lift in unison.

Not only will you get a high profile rail, but also ladder tape, instead of strings. Ladder tapes don’t just add style, but also serve a functional purpose in blocking out extra light by covering up the routed holes on each blind slat.

Our most popular slat size when it comes to vertical blinds, these louvres look great in larger windows, offering more coverage, more chance to enjoy our stunning fabrics and much fewer gaps between slats. Fewer gaps always mean less light leakage. This slat size is also priced better than our 90mm option.
Our 90mm slats are a stylish alternative and are great for hanging in smaller windows. They fit the space much more neatly and compactly. They’re great for larger windows too, if that’s what you prefer. Our golden rule is always to match slat sizes across multiple windows, so if you have a smaller window that suits 90mm we reckon it’s a good idea to go with them across the board. More expensive than the 127mm option as they require more fabric and components.
